Acetazolamide Tablets  works by inhibiting carbonic anhydrase, resulting in the diuresis of abnormal fluid retention. The diuretic effect is dependent on the inhibition of carbonic anhydrase, which results in a decrease in the quantity of hydrogen ions available for active transport in the renal tubule lumen. As a result, the urine becomes more alkaline and the outflow of bicarbonate, salt, potassium, and water increases. 
Acetazolamide's anticonvulsant properties may be attributed to its direct suppression of carbonic anhydrase in the central nervous system (CNS), which lowers pulmonary alveolar carbon dioxide tension and raises arterial oxygen tension.
